About this 401(k) match calculator

Salary, your deferral percent, and an employer match formula (for example 100% of the first 3% and 50% of the next 2%). The page estimates annual employee deferral and employer match dollars.

Match is capped by the formula tiers you enter, not by IRS contribution limits unless you keep your inputs under those limits yourself. Arithmetic is tier-by-tier on compensation × deferral.

Educational only — not tax, investment, or plan advice. Vesting, true-ups, after-tax/Roth treatment, and your plan’s exact matching definition can differ. Read the SPD or ask HR for the real formula.

How is the match calculated?

Single-rate: the employer pays that percent of what you contribute, only up to the cap percent of salary. Two-tier: 100% of the first 3% of salary you put in, then 50% of the next 2%. Custom uses the two percent fields.

What is left on the table?

The match you miss if you contribute less than the formula can match.
