About this sales tax calculator

Tax = amount × rate ÷ 100. Total = amount + tax. The rate is whatever you type — there is no built-in ZIP lookup, nexus table, or product-category exemption list.

How is sales tax calculated?
Add tax: tax is price times the rate divided by 100. Total is price plus tax. $40 at 7.25% is $2.90 tax and $42.90 total. Price includes tax: divide the receipt by one plus the rate. $42.90 at 7.25% was $40 before tax.
