ROI calculator

Profit versus cost. Or current value minus cost. Percent and dollars.

About this ROI calculator

Gain or loss versus cost. Classic return-on-investment percent for a simple cash-in / cash-out story.

ROI% = (gain − cost) ÷ cost × 100, or (final − initial) ÷ initial × 100 depending on the fields shown. Negative ROI means the ending value sat under cost.

Not a risk model, IRR/NPV suite, or after-tax return. Time value of money needs the compound-interest or a dedicated IRR tool.

FAQ

What is the profit field? Profit is the gain: what you made, not the current value. ROI% = profit / cost × 100.

What if I have current value instead? Fill current value and cost. Profit is then current − cost. Same ROI%.

Can cost be zero? No. ROI is undefined if cost is zero.
