How is this calculated? Cubic yards = area × (depth inches / 12) / 27. Tons = cubic yards × density (default 1.4). Waste multiplies volume first.
Why 1.4 tons per cubic yard? A common bulk gravel density. Wet or crushed stone can differ — change the density if your supplier says otherwise.
What is waste? A percent added on top of the raw volume.
